Back to school and attentive driving

<img src="schoolbus.jpg" alt="">

There is going to be increased foot traffic on sidewalks, roadways, and within crosswalks. Especially before and after the school day.
With school busses returning to our neighborhoods there will also be an increase in children on foot, waiting in the areas of pick up and drop off. With their smaller stature children are at an increased risk of not being seen by passing motorists. To keep our students and our drivers as safe as possible, please stay alert and keep the following in mind.

- ALWAYS stop for a school bus when the lights are flashing.
-Remove all distractions from the driver.
-Do not pass other vehicles.
-Obey all crossing signals and crossing guards.
-ALWAYS check your mirrors before moving.
-Teach your children the rules of traffic safety.
-Remind your young drivers of the importance of traffic safety and distraction free driving.

Together we can keep our children and roads safe for the 2023-2024 school year.

Thank you,
Your Lynden Fire Department
